Been a successful letter writing campaign around here this week.  A couple of letters were written; one to me and one by me. When I got home from work on Wednesday afternoon, I found a handwritten letter from the grandson that lives with us. Kaeden is 8 1/2 years old. The letter is so sweet!  It brought tears to my eyes.  Some were tears of laughter, but others were tears of love.  Here’s a copy

Fabulous temps this weekend, about 65°, maybe 70°, blue skies, sunshine and slightly cool, dry northerly breezes.  Great time to be outside!  Whether it be to stow away the summer toys, (except the pool), move the snow shovels to the front of the shed (cuz you  just KNOW you're going to need them), or, if you’re really lucky, just a glorious day to sit outside and watch the grass stop growing!

Today is the first anniversary of the worst day of my life. This date is deeply engrained in my brain and on my broken heart. Sadly, I’m here again, to add yet another very special someone to my wall of tears. My niece, Crystal, died this week. She was just 2 years younger than Cameron. She suffered a severe asthmatic attack complicated by a respiratory infection. Crystal will be sorely missed especially this time of year. Christmas was her favorite holiday, as it was Cameron’s. Something special is now missing in our lives. Cameron Nickolaus Tuhn died unexpectedly, on Wednesday, September 30, 2009. Yes it was.  And it still is!  We had a lot of wind yesterday, but today had to be the worst.  I’m so glad I did all my running around yesterday.  I’d have never been able to keep the van on the road if I’d had somewhere to go today.  Haven’t heard yet, but am guessing we had a full day of gusts around 60-70 MPH.  Usually the winds die down after sundown, but not tonight.  It’s still howling out

OMG!  Went shopping in Ames today.  Stopped at Sam’s Club to get some honey.  I can buy a 5 lb bottle of it there for about $8.00.  At the grocery store, it’s about $13.00 for 24 ounces!  And since I use honey in place of sugar in my coffee & teas, I go through about a bottle every 4-6 weeks!  So it could get really pricey to buy it at the grocery store. My how time flies!  Can't believe it's been almost a year since I last posted here.  Guess I've been kinda' busy?  Yep, that must be it.  Why else would I ignore my blog? Oh my gosh!  I took Kaeden over to see his Dad tonight.  This particular county jail doesn't have an open visiting room.  When we visit we use telephones to talk to each other and can see each other through a very thick plate glass.  I assume that glass is bullet proof.
